About the Artist

Leda Black lives in the Washington, D.C. area. Her primary medium is digital imagery printed by high resolution archival inkjet. Most of her recent work is part of the Female Power Project, started in 2015. Previously she concentrated on book arts—writing, printing, and binding limited edition artists books under the imprint Palabra Press. New thing, what think? 10% of price goes to the El New thing, what think? 10% of price goes to the Ella Baker Institute? This is from Jet magazine, 1964, picturing the convention of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party. Two queens (and perSISTERS): Fannie Lou Hamer and Ella Baker. I was talking to a visitor to my Eastern Market situation, we were gushing over how great Fannie was, and I said, wait, I have to show you this photo. (I include the Jet cover image in the info on the back of my Ella Baker print.) My visitor said, "I would buy a shirt with that on it".
