About the Artist

Leda Black lives in the Washington, D.C. area. Her primary medium is digital imagery printed by high resolution archival inkjet. Most of her recent work is part of the Female Power Project, started in 2015. Previously she concentrated on book arts—writing, printing, and binding limited edition artists books under the imprint Palabra Press. Open Studio

Black Lab is open most Fridays 1:00–7:00 and Saturdays (10:00am–4:00pm) or by appointment. Open studio hours change without notice, but you can check the Black Lab Facebook page for updates or my Instagram feeds. Check Facebook! Or scroll to the bottom of this page to see the social feeds.

How to be not very organized within uncertainty. How to be not very organized within uncertainty. Which is to say: Friday studio hours are truncated to 2:00-6:00 on Friday (open regular hours on Saturday 10:00-4:00). @brooklandartswalk The Female Power Project will have a tiny presence at Greenbelt Sparkle Mart on Saturday 12/7 and Sunday 12/8 (Sarah and then Rose will be staffing). The Creatrix will be present at @downtowndcholidaymarket on Saturday and Sunday 12/7-8, Rose will be there on Friday. It's time to start shopping with your local makers. Seriously. It's brutal out here. (Thank you for making the Girl With A Book shirts so popular!) #shoplocaldc

Please look for The Female Power Project booth at the revamped and enlarged Downtown DC Holiday Market near the Portrait Gallery. Booth 24 on F street NW near 9th, noon till 8:00 every day, through December 23 (closed on Thanksgiving). @downtowndcholidaymarket @themakersshow Our plan is to maintain open studio hours on the Brookland Arts Walk through December 21: Fridays 1:00-7:00 and Saturdays 10:00-4:00. There may be exceptions! @brooklandartswalk We are looking for helpers for load out on the night of December 23!

This coming weekend, The Female Power Project wil This coming weekend, The Female Power Project will have a small presence at Sparkle Mart in Greenbelt, MD. This is a juried art and craft festival on Saturday, December 7 (10:00-5:00) and Sunday the 8th (10:00-4:00). Sarah and Rose will be staffing because I will be at the Downtown DC Holiday Market. I will have the buttons, 8x10 prints, and a few shirt designs (including the smash hit, A Girl With A Book in toddler, kids, and unisex adult sizes). Address: 25 Crescent Road, Greenbelt, MD 20770. Shop local!
